Young Eagles is a program originally created by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) to introduce young people to the world of aviation. SAAPA partners with EAA Chapter 600 to host Young Eagles rallies where licensed pilots volunteer to take kids on their first flight, inspiring the next generation of aviators.
Pilots and ground volunteers are always needed. Pilots must hold at least a Private Pilot certificate with a current medical and flight review. Ground volunteers help with registration, escorting families, and logistics. Sign up through the Young Eagles section of the member portal or contact our Young Eagles coordinator.
Young Eagles flights are available to youth ages 8 through 17. Participants must have a parent or guardian sign a permission form on the day of the event. There is no cost to participate.
Young Eagles rallies are announced on our Events page and through local outreach. On rally day, registration is handled on-site. Arrive early as flights are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. A parent or legal guardian must be present.

St. Augustine Airport Pilots Association is based at St Augustine Airport (KSGJ), located in St. Augustine, Florida. The airport serves as a general aviation hub for Northeast Florida with multiple FBOs, flight schools, and maintenance facilities.
You can reach us through the Contact page on our website, by emailing us through the contact form, or by attending any of our monthly meetings. Board members and committee chairs are also available through the member directory.
SAAPA was founded by a group of general aviation pilots who wanted a unified voice at KSGJ. What began as informal hangar gatherings grew into a structured organization with over 200 members, regular monthly meetings, safety seminars, group flyouts, community events, and partnerships with EAA Chapter 600, NEFLAC, and the AOPA Airport Support Network.
SAAPA is governed by an elected Board of Directors consisting of a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Board members serve defined terms and are elected by the membership at the annual meeting. You can view the current board on our About page.
